Astaro Releases New Astaro Smart Installer

Burlington, MA (July 24, 2008)—Astaro Corporation (www.astaro.com) , a leading vendor of security appliances, today announced the availability of the Astaro Smart Installer, a new product designed to allow resellers and customers to quickly and easily install Astaro software appliances and re-image Astaro hardware appliances.

Available for Astaro Security Gateway and Astaro Web Gateway product lines, the Astaro Smart Installer is a specialized USB flash drive that allows the hardware appliance or server to recognize it as an external CD/ROM drive loaded with a bootable image. This eliminates the need for the user to obtain new hardware or download an ISO image, burn it to a CD and load it onto the hardware via an external drive. Shipping this new product instead of a new hardware appliance (or CD and external drive with instructions) can save resellers significant shipping costs and time when supporting their customers. The tool provides for automated, unattended installation once it has been recognized by the appliance.

The Astaro Smart Installer can be utilized in many situations, including those instances when an Astaro user has made the platform unavailable through erroneous configuration. Also, a customer significantly behind in Up2dates can use the Astaro Smart Installer to re-image the hardware and apply a backup rather than apply multiple Up2Dates released in the past and face a longer maintenance window as a result.
